Museum of Stone
Paros, Greece, 2026
The Museum of Stone, the first of its kind, attempts to address the entirety of human activity related to the extraction, processing, transportation, construction, conservation, and reuse of stone, as well as the arts involved in creating tools, vessels, and structures used for the processing, conservation, and transportation of stone. The physical presence of stone and its manual processing create a unique product. The historical dimension of the material adds value to the product, especially when the techniques, practices, and challenges that arise during the processes of extraction, quarrying, and processing of this unique product are highlighted. The Museum of Stone, with its multiple approaches, sheds light on a part of the productive and social life of Paros, as well as an aspect of its culture. The company Christoforos, in addition to its pioneering position in stone production, contributes to the promotion of a chapter of the island's culture through the creation of the museum, as part of its corporate social responsibility.
